About Us
In the spring of 1978, a handful of determined North Lethbridge seniors, led by Roy Berlando, gathered around a neighborhood kitchen table with a vision that was as bold as it was simple: to create a dedicated space for their community. What started as a grassroots meeting of fewer than a hundred residents quickly sparked a movement. They weren’t just looking for a place to gather; they were setting out to build a senior citizens’ centre that truly reflected the heart, grit, and diverse heritage of North Lethbridge.
The road ahead was filled with challenges. With an established senior organization just fifteen blocks away, critics openly questioned whether a second centre was truly necessary. But North Lethbridge has always possessed a unique, independent spirit. Historically separated by the railway tracks and underserved compared to the south side, the north side was a proud hub of hardworking, multicultural, blue-collar families. Our founders knew that this vibrant community deserved its own distinct voice, its own representation, and a welcoming place to call home.
To turn their dream into reality, our early trailblazers embraced innovation and strict fiscal prudence. Nord-Bridge overcame funding hurdles by aligning with government goals and pioneering entrepreneurial initiatives—such as our current 13th Avenue North facility, which creatively integrates commercial tenants to support our mission. For over thirty-six years, Nord-Bridge has successfully blended smart operations with a warm, deeply compassionate environment, proving that a kitchen-table idea can blossom into a vital, lasting community legacy.
